What is Think Aloud?

Think Aloud is a playtesting technique where you verbalize your thoughts, feelings, and decisions as you play the game. This helps us understand your perspective and identify areas for improvement.

  1. Setup - Make sure you are in a quiet, comfortable environment where you can focus on playing the game and expressing your thoughts out loud.

  2. Start playing - Begin playing the game as you normally would, but with one important difference – think aloud!

  3. Verbalize your thoughts - As you play, continuously verbalize your thoughts, feelings, and decision-making process. Some examples of what to say include:

    • What you're trying to do and why

    • What you're noticing or reacting to in the game

    • Any questions, confusions, or frustrations you experience

    • What you enjoy or find engaging about the game

    • Any suggestions or ideas for improvement that come to mind

    • Also: If you have any issues in the setup or streaming of your play experience or use of Live Aware, feel free to verbalize those as well!

  4. Be honest and detailed - Don't hold back! We want to hear your genuine thoughts and reactions, both positive and negative. The more detailed and specific you can be, the more helpful your feedback will be.

  5. Take your time - There's no rush! Take as much time as you need to fully explore the game and share your thoughts. If you need a break, feel free to pause and resume when you're ready.

Remember, your feedback is invaluable in helping to surface and log insights that your team can use to make improvements to your game.
