Livestreaming with the Live Aware Desktop Recorder
Updated this week

With the Live Aware Desktop Recorder you can easily and securely livestream directly to your team's workspace. The streams are saved and can be watched at anytime. There is no easier way to get your team livestreaming than with the Live Aware Desktop Recorder. To download the Desktop Recorder see Downloading Live Aware Recorder Applications.

Logging into the Desktop Recorder

  1. Launch the Live Aware Desktop Recorder.

  2. Click Sign-in with Google or Microsoft.

  3. Enter your login credentials.

Configuring Your Livestream Settings

  1. Select the project and event you want to stream to. You can also create a new event.

  2. Select the screen you want to capture. You can choose to stream your entire screen or a specific application. If you want to capture a specific application (like the game you are testing!) make sure to launch it first.

  3. Select the audio source. You can choose to stream your whole system audio, or the audio from a specific application.

  4. Depending on the needs of your streaming session, select a source for your camera and microphone.

Managing Advanced Settings

Clicking Advanced settings will open the Livestreaming Advanced Settings dialog. There you can set the following advanced options:

  1. Video Options

    1. Latency Mode - Select either Low Latency or Ultra-low Latency (ULL). With less than 1 second of latency, ULL is optimal for situations where are you communicating in real-time with viewers. Low latency mode can result in latency of 4 to 8 seconds, but provides a higher level of quality. For more information see Ultra-low Latency Streaming

    2. Quality - Select the bitrate of your video stream. Higher bitrates provide higher quality, but will use more of your Internet bandwidth.

  2. Audio Options

    1. Quality - Select the bitrate of your audio stream. Higher bitrates provide higher quality, but will use more of your Internet bandwidth.

    2. Balance - Determine the audio volume balance when captured system or application audio is combined with microphone input.

  3. Voice Processing

    1. Noise Suppression - Automatically isolates and removes background noise.

    2. Automatic Gain Control - Ensures your voice remains consistent and clear.

  4. Component Options

    1. Show cursor - Determines if the mouse cursor should be show or hidden in the stream.

  5. Others

    1. Separate camera and microphone recording - Stream microphone and camera as a separate stream. For more information Livestreaming Mic and Camera Separately.

    2. Recording buffer - When the recording buffer is enabled, you can use Slice creation hotkeys to automatically capture video clips of what has just occurred. For more information, see Creating Slices with the Live Aware Desktop Recorder.

Starting your Livestream

You should now be ready to start your livestream. Click Go Live and switch to the application you want to stream. While streaming you will receive notifications about your stream duration or if any interruptions occur.

Ending your Livestream

When you are finished streaming, return to the Live Aware Desktop Recorder and click End Stream. If you want to stream again, click Start a new stream.
