Local Recording with the Live Aware Desktop Recorder

With the Live Aware Desktop Recorder you can locally record and upload videos directly to your team's workspace. There is no easier way to get your team capturing video than with the Live Aware Desktop Recorder. To download the Desktop Recorder see Downloading Live Aware Recorder Applications.

Logging into the Desktop Recorder

  1. Launch the Live Aware Desktop Recorder.

  2. Click Sign-in with Google or Microsoft.

  3. Enter your login credentials.

Configuring your Local Recording

  1. Click the Local Recording button.

  2. Set your Output Location in the bar to your left. To change it, click Browse and select your output folder in the folder selection dialog.

  3. Select the screen or window to capture and your camera settings with drop-down menus under the Video section.

  4. Select your audio source and your microphone settings with drop-down menus under the Audio section.

Managing Advanced Settings

Clicking Advanced settings will open the Local Recording Advanced Settings dialog. There you can set the following advanced options:

  1. Video Options

    1. Resolution - Select the resolution of the video you will be capturing.

    2. Bitrate - Select the bitrate of your video track. Higher bitrates provide higher quality, but will result in a larger file size.

  2. Audio Options

    1. Quality - Select the bitrate of your audio track. Higher bitrates provide higher quality, but will result in a larger file size.

    2. Balance - Determine the audio volume balance when captured system or application audio is combined with microphone input.

  3. Voice Processing

    1. Noise Suppression - Automatically isolates and removes background noise.

    2. Automatic Gain Control - Ensures your voice remains consistent and clear.

  4. Component Options

    1. Show cursor - Determines if the mouse cursor should be show or hidden in the video.

  5. Others

    1. Recording buffer - When the recording buffer is enabled, you can use Slice creation hotkeys to automatically capture video clips of what has just occurred. For more information, see Creating Slices with the Live Aware Desktop Recorder.

Starting your Local Recording

You should now be ready to start your local recording. Click Record and switch to the application you want to record. While recording you will receive notifications about your recording duration or if any interruptions occur.

Ending your Local Recording

When you are finished recording, return to the Live Aware Desktop Recorder and click End Record.

Uploading your Local Recording

When you have completed your local recording, you will be prompted to optionally upload the video to your Live Aware workspace.

  1. Click Upload

  2. Enter the video's title in the Video Name field.

  3. Ener the Event to upload the video to in the Event field. You may optionally create a new Event if you have appropriate permissions.
